Helmut Schwabe is a Tasmanian sculptor, with a background as a professional ceramicist and concerned environmentalist.
His current work in stone is at the interface of these two passions.
Each sculpture represents and reflects the symbiotic relationship between his past and present work practice, the mediums in which he works, and the organic elements and objects that his work incorporates.
What is created in the process is artwork that mimics the natural world and celebrates the environment in bold outline, as well as sharp relief.
